Editorial policy

Pokepatched is an index of fan-made Pokémon ROM hacks. This page explains what we list, where our information comes from, and how to get something fixed.

What we list

We catalogue publicly released fan projects: their creator, base game, platform, version and completion status, taken from each hack's public release pages. A hack being listed is not an endorsement, and we don't accept payment for listings or placement.

Download links

We link only to patch files, which contain the creator's changes and none of the original game. We don't host patches, and we don't link to pre-patched ROMs, because those include the commercial game. Where the only mirrors we could find were pre-patched, the hack's page says so instead of linking them. You apply a patch to your own copy of the game, for example with our in-browser ROM patcher.

Hack notes

Some hack pages carry Pokepatched notes: which base ROM a patch needs, save-type and emulator requirements, how far the story goes, known issues and similar hacks. Notes are researched from the creator's own release threads and pages wherever possible, compiled with the help of AI research tools, and checked against their sources before publishing.

  • Every note lists the sources it was built from and the date it was researched.
  • We don't claim to have played a hack unless a note says so explicitly.
  • If sources disagree or a detail can't be verified, we leave it out rather than guess.

Guides and blog posts

Blog posts and platform guides follow the same rules: practical information, linked to the hacks it mentions, and updated when things change.

Advertising

Pokepatched may show advertising to cover running costs. Advertisers have no influence over which hacks we list, what our notes say, or how pages are ordered.

Corrections and removals

If something on a page is wrong, a link is dead, or you're a creator who wants a project updated or removed, use the contact page. We correct mistakes promptly and honor creator removal requests. Copyright notices follow our DMCA policy.
