Johto replaces the Sevii Islands, continuing the adventure with a Gold and Silver-inspired postgame in FireGold. TheSnowPeople’s GBA FireRed hack is version H1.8 and raises the difficulty: most trainers use six Pokémon and battle items cannot be used. Players receive a new starter and build another team, with Johto's increased level curve allowing more team changes by Ecruteak. Every Generation 1 and 2 Pokémon is obtainable without trades. The game adds the physical/special split, Fairy type, abilities and attacks through Generation 8, reusable TMs, early breeding, and rematchable Gym Leaders whose teams can vary.
