Pokémon: Old Amber revisits the Gold, Silver and Crystal journey with species from the first seven generations woven throughout Johto rather than saved for later. Trainer rosters and gym battles draw on that wider pool, while trade evolutions use replacement methods. It suits players who want a much broader version of the familiar adventure. Easy, Normal and Hard settings alter opposing teams as well as rewards; there are eighteen type gyms, two unusual starters, and a separate record for Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.
